As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called not only to live out our faith within the walls of our churches but also in the world around us. Our actions and attitudes have the power to influence and inspire others, especially those who have yet to know the love and grace of our Savior. Of course the question becomes, “Well, Brother Neville, just how can we do that?”

Well, I think there are five things we can do each and every day.

1. Reflect God’s love: Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with every fiber of our being and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Do our daily words and deeds reflect that to everyone we encounter? If so we demonstrate to believers and non-believers alike the transformative power of God’s love.
2. Practice Humility: This is a tough one for me and, I suspect, for many of you as well. In a world that celebrates pride and self-centeredness, our humility can be a refreshing testimony to something bigger. Set aside our egos for a bit and seek to serve others. By embracing humility we exhibit a Christlike character that stands out, and in doing so we point others to the humility and selflessness of our Lord.
3. Exhibit Integrity: This can simply be stated as making sure our beliefs and actions match. When they do they are a powerful witness to non-believers, attracting those who yearn for authenticity and a solid foundation in a world filled with moral ambiguity.
4. Extend Grace and Forgiveness: People are watching us. How do we respond to circumstances in life? We have received grace and forgiveness but do we offer it to others, or do we show resentment and judgement? Our capacity to forgive serves as an invitation for others to experience God’s liberating grace and mercy.
5. Last, and perhaps most importantly, let us be people who live with Joy and Hope. The world is filled with uncertainty and despair, yet the joy and hope we have is a powerful testimony to something bigger. By radiating joy and hope, even in the midst of trials, we reveal the supernatural strength and peace that come from trusting in God. Our positive outlook on life can draw non-Christians towards the source of our hope, providing them with a glimpse of the abundant life found only in Jesus.

So, my friends, our lives are a canvas on which the message of Christ can be displayed to the world. By reflecting His love, practicing humility, exhibiting integrity, extending grace and forgiveness, and living with joy and hope, we become beacons of light in a darkened world. May our actions and attitudes today and everyday be such that they draw everyone around us closer to the One who transforms lives and offers eternal hope.
