Finding Strength in the Unplanned

Good morning! It’s Brother Neville with your thought for today, Tuesday, April 2nd.

Well, I apologize for being a bit late today. I’m just sort of struggling right now to get a good daily routine figured out, and anybody who knows me knows I like order. I guess it’s a holdover from my Army days. Yet, in my striving I’ve begun to realize that God is challenging me to let go and trust him completely with my days.

Being a Christian guarantees perfect days; but that’s perfect in God’s eyes, not our own. We often find ourselves meticulously planning our days, weeks, and even years. We set goals, make to-do lists, and diligently go into the day. However, despite our best efforts, those carefully laid plans are often disrupted. In those moments we often feel frustrated, discouraged, or even angry. What are we to do then, Brother Neville?

Well, first turning to scripture in Proverbs 19:21 we read, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” This is a reminder to us that while we may have our own plans, ultimately it is the purpose of the Lord that prevails. Instead of allowing frustration to consume us, we can choose to trust God knowing that his plans are always better than our own.

Secondly, unexpected change presents an opportunity for growth and transformation. Instead of stubbornly trying to get our plans back on track, we can choose to see the changes as an opportunity for God to refine our character and deepen our faith. In doing that, we ultimately become more resilient and better equipped for whatever lies ahead.

Finally, Romans 8:28 and Isaiah 55:9 remind us that God’s plans are perfect and his ways are higher than ours. So, dear friends, whether your plans are moving smoothly along, or they have totally jumped the track, remember to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. My prayer is that each of us will find peace and strength in his presence today, knowing that he is with us every step of the way.

Be blessed today my friends! And remember, God loves you and so do I.

  1. This is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Things don’t always go our way. I am old enough now to accept things that come unexpected. God wants us to rejoice not complain. Thank you for your message today! BB
